Funnel chart

Shaped like a funnel, this chart shows values decreasing in stages. Each slice in the funnel represents a process that has filtered out data, and their proportions add up to 100%.

Tips for use and when NOT to use

Focus on the stages and drop-offs in a process. Clearly label each stage and consider using a colour gradient to visualise the decrease in values. Don't use if the values don't progressively decrease through the stages or if your focus isn't on attrition or conversion rates.

Use case / Examples

1. To track the progress of potential customers through a sales funnel from initial contact to purchase.
2. To visualise the results of an employee satisfaction survey where questions move from general to more specific, e.g. overall satisfaction, satisfaction with specific aspects and intention to stay/leave.

Question example:

How satisfied are you with your current employer's sustainability initiatives?
