Bar chart diverging stacked
Ideal for showing detailed distributions within opposing groups (e.g. agree versus disagree), this extends a diverging bar chart by dividing each bar into segments that represent proportions of the whole. This means you can compare both the overall divergence, such as agree versus disagree, and the subcategory distributions (e.g. strongly agree and somewhat agree).
Limit the number of categories and use a clear colour scheme to distinguish between positive and negative components within categories. Ensure that the total values across categories are comparable. Only use if stacking adds valuable information — if it doesn't, use a conventional diverging bar chart.
