Compound bubble and pie chart

This is a bubble chart where each bubble contains a pie chart to show proportions within different categories. It allows you to show and compare performance across four parameters instead of two. The first two variables determine the bubble's position on the x-y axis, the third determines the size of the bubble marker, and the fourth is the percentage of pie.

Tips for use and when NOT to use

Make sure that the relationship between the bubbles and the pie charts is intuitive. To avoid confusion, use distinct visuals for each. Don't use if the relationship is unclear or the data is too complex.

Use case / Examples

1. To show the percentage of employees who are satisfied with their company's diversity and inclusion efforts, broken down by gender and ethnicity.
2. To show how different industries have adopted emerging technologies, with bubble sizes indicating the number of companies surveyed and the pie charts revealing the adoption rates.

Question example:

Which cloud provider does your company use? [Bubble size = company revenue] Within that provider, which services do you use most? [Pie slices = IaaS, PaaS, SaaS]
