Lollipop chart vertical

Alternative name:

Barbell chart

This is a bar/column chart where each bar is replaced with a line and a circle, making it easier to read individual values. The chart can also be shown horizontally.

Tips for use and when NOT to use

These charts are useful if you have a large number of values and all of them fall within a narrow range. Limit your categories to avoid overcrowding, and use contrasting colours for the bars/lines and the dots. Don't use if you need to compare exact values or if you have too many categories to display clearly.

Use case / Examples

1. To compare the performance of different types of energy producers.
2. To compare the average salaries of different roles within a company or industry.
