Nightingale rose chart
Coxcomb chart; polar area chart
A nightingale rose chart is a circular chart that looks like a flower, with 'petals' of different sizes to represent the values of different categories. Like a stacked bar chart arranged in a circle, each petal's length indicates its value and bigger petals represent higher values.
Limit the number of categories, because too many petals can become difficult to tell apart. Use a clear colour scheme and consider labelling each segment with its value or percentage. Don't use if your data has a lot of categories with small values or when you want to make precise comparisons. A bar chart or pie chart might be more suitable in these cases.
1. To show the distribution of employees by length of service, highlighting any potential issues with retention or turnover.
2. To show the greatest risks to operations identified by supply chain managers, where petals represent a risk factor.
Which of these challenges poses the greatest risk to your company's supply chain operations?
