Radial bar chart

Alternative name:

Circular bar chart; polar bar chart

Essentially, this is the same as a bar chart but with its bars arranged in a circle radiating outward from the centre instead of in a straight line.

Tips for use and when NOT to use

Limit the number of categories to avoid overcrowding, and use contrasting colours for each bar. For clarity, consider labelling each bar with its value. Don't use if there are too many categories, because this makes labels difficult to read. And don't use if you need to easily compare bar lengths: bar lengths on this chart can be visually misleading because outer bars appear longer than inner bars even if they represent the same values.
