Scatterplot
Scatter chart; point graph; X-Y plot; cluster analysis
A chart with points (dots) plotted on a horizontal and vertical axis to show relationships or correlations between two variables. Each dot represents one piece of data, and its position on the graph shows how the two things relate to each other. This can also be used for cluster analysis to show how data points are grouped together into clusters.
Make sure there's a clear relationship between your two variables, and label both axes with units and variable names. Consider using a trend line to highlight the overall pattern if it's relevant. Don't use if the relationship between your two variables isn't linear or if you don't have enough data points to draw meaningful conclusions. Remember that correlation is not causation, and even if you can identify a relationship in the data, another unnoticed or indirect variable could be influencing the results.
