Slope chart

This is a line chart that connects two data points for each category, a slope chart is typically used to show changes or comparisons between two time periods or conditions. It's similar to a bump chart, but is usually only used to show change over time.

Tips for use and when NOT to use

Clearly label each line and the two time points you're comparing. Make sure that the change between the two time points is significant enough to make a slope chart visually meaningful. Don't use if you're comparing more than two time points — a line chart would be more appropriate for that.
